No. Thimi works on any Android tablet 10" or larger (Android 8.0 or higher recommended). You can buy one for $150–$300 at any electronics store, or use tablets you already own. We never require proprietary hardware — that's one of the biggest ways we save you money vs Toast or Clover.
No contracts, ever. Monthly subscriptions are month-to-month — cancel anytime with no penalty. Annual subscriptions save $238 but also carry no cancellation penalty. We keep you because you love the product, not because you're locked in.
3–5 days from signed agreement to live system, including configuration, full menu loading, and staff training. Our pilot deployment at Golden Goose Market in Charlestown, MA was live and processing orders in 3 days. For Greater Boston locations, we offer on-site setup assistance included in the $500 setup fee.
The kiosk includes a built-in offline mode. If your internet connection drops, the system continues accepting orders locally on the tablet. When connectivity is restored, all orders sync automatically to the kitchen display and admin dashboard. Your business doesn't stop because of an internet hiccup.
The kiosk integrates with Stripe, supporting credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and all contactless payments. Thimi does not add any transaction fees on top of Stripe's standard processing rates. You pay Stripe directly — not us.
Toast Kiosk starts at $69/month but requires proprietary hardware ($627+) and often a 1–2 year contract. When you factor in hardware amortization, Thimi is significantly cheaper over any 12-month period. Square charges 2.6% + $0.10 per transaction on top of subscription fees. Thimi adds zero transaction fees — you pay only Stripe's direct rates. The KDS is also included in our base plan, which is an add-on fee with most competitors.
